The Flash Player is an inbuilt part of the phone's firmware, it cannot be downloaded separately. Th current version for mobile devices is Flash Player Lite 3, which is roughly equivelant to Flash Player 9 on a PC, so some flash content may not be readable. What specifically happens when you try to watch videos on thei particular site? Is there an error message? We would need to establish if the web site you are trying to use is incompatible with FPL3 or if your network streaming settings/access points could be at fault.
Some messages posted on here say you can't watch any videos that require flash so I'm not quite sure what to believe. The phone clearly said flash enabled, unlike a lot of other phones, which is one of the reasons I bought it. My error message on my particular site reads: - 'You are trying to install Adobe Flash Player on an unsupported system. For system requirements visit Flash Player System Requirements. For Flash Player please visit Flash Player Download Centre.'
A previous thread mentioned downlaoding Flash lite 3.1.is this the thing to do? And do Nokia put out any 'patches' or similar things for us to download to the 5800? I got a brand new boxed nokia 5800 xpressmusic. Beautiful phone! However I do experience weird issues when browsing the net (via wifi currently from home network).The browser freezes a LOT.The sites with flash movie or special flash players embedded to the sites just wont play at all (you see an emtpy square, trying to click them does nothing and most of the time freezes happening like that) Its a though question (as I'm aware of supporting/licencing/app issues as an IT technician).
We could say that its the website admin's fault, since.maybe. they have to support flash more precisely then just adding a player or flash to the site. We can also agree that adobe flash should be more precisely compatible with the mobile version (our problem I believe mainly is that the sites aren't recognizing the mobile flash player correctly). Many sites says I dont have flash 9 compatible player.
So I really hope that nokia support will take the time and work this out with adobe since today's browser experience at least 50% depends on a perfectly working flash player with any probwser of choice. Waiting for a sollution dear Nokia! A happy 5800 owner with slight dissapointment here that could turn around nicely.:).
