For the 1996 version from the original CD's - the installer will NOT work. The fix is below. Create a directory on your hard drive and copy all the files from the cdrom into that directory.

This file goes into C: Games Risk After this is done, remove the read only attribute from all files and folders in c: games risk The last part to get this to work is to edit the windows registry. Posts: 2 Joined: Status: offline Thank you, Brandy - I meanwhile figured out what to Google and found the solution at Basically you need to go on your own hard drive to the folder: c: Program Files Risk SaveGame Don't actually enter the folder, but right-click it to enter Properties and then under Attributes un-check Read-Only. Then click Apply and OK.

One caveat - don't attempt to do this operation on the CD itself. It won't work. You can only do it on your own hard drive. Best wishes everyone!
